If science and religion can coexist, why cant the people who back them?

If science and religion can coexist, why cant the people who back them?
Im both religious and a scientist. I subscribe to both God created the world and The Big Bang occured billion years ago... and Evolution is the slow progression of species to adapt to change, periodically sped up by ecological incidents ie, extinction and stuff like that.

Answer

To me, science and religion require each other to coexist. The problem with both sides is a lack of communication with the other, or political differences.
